Brief history of the project.
The project was established in 1996 as a public enterprise. The activities were carried out at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), which was established in 1930. Except for educational and academic activity, MAI carries out research and development and construction work.
The project was financed by public and charity funds.
The current financing is made from the funds of the project's authors.
Description of the product.
A multifunctional automobile has been developed. A commercial automobile with the help additional attaching implements will be transformed to various transport vehicles thus increasing the consumer features of a traditional automobile.
The commercial automobile such as RENO "TWINGO", OPEL "KORSA" or MERCEDES "SMART" with the help of set of additional equipment (floater, sail, ski, wing, air-propeller and etc.), for 15 - 20 minutes transforms into a yacht, hydroplane, aero-glider, snowmobile, machine on air pillow (Hovercraft), into airfoil-craft or amphibian aircraft.
The stub of the attaching implements increases the consumer and hence market price of the equipped commercial automobile.
At present there are special constructions of automobile-yacht, flying automobile, car-showplane etc., but it these are special expensive machines (500,000 $), which are not intended for mass consumer. The designed automobile-transformer ensures low cost of each type of transport manufactured on the basis of commercial automobile.
If the cost of the automobile is 15,000 $, then the complete set for transforming the automobile into a yacht will be 20,000 $, into a machine on air pillow (Hovercraft) - 60,000 $, into an airfoil-craft - 80,000 $, into an airplane - 140,000 $.
The automobile-transformer will be created within 1.5-2 years. The total cost of work on creating the multifunctional automobile is 4,000,000 $.
Competitors.
The analysis at a world level on automobile technology shows that in the nearest 5 years, the automobile-transformers individual types of transport vehicles bases on the commercial automobiles will not come in the international and domestic market. Similar or substituting products allowing the commercial automobile to transform into a new type of transport machine are not present in the world industry. The competitors in the concerned market sector are absent.
Intellectual property.
On the automobile-transformer device, 3 (three) patents of Russia have been obtained and the applications for RST are prepared. According to the results of work on the project, 8 articles are published in scientific and technical literatures. The automobile-transformer device was displayed at international exhibitions of inventions and was awarded with diplomas, gold and silver medals at the international Salons of inventions (Moscow, Brussels, Geneva).
Required investments.
Research work has been carried out on this project. There is a designing bureau, and production plant. The technical projects have been worked out.
Financing is required for detailed designs, manufacturing the prototypes and for testing these prototypes. Subsequently, preparation for full-scale manufacturing and output of pre-batch products.
Stages of works:
1. Detailed design (making working drawings);
2. Manufacture of prototypes and testing theses prototypes;
3. Preparation for full-scale production;
4. Output of pre-batch products;
5. Trial and preparation for marketing.
Simple financial planning of the project "Automobile-transformer".
Capital outlays - 2.5 million US dollars;
Current expenditures - 1.5 million US dollars;
Incomes - 600 million US dollars.
Required investments for implementing the project.
Year 2003 - 1,000,000 US dollars;
Year 2004 - 2,000,000 US dollars;
Year 2005 - 1,000,000 US dollars.
Proposed strategy of an outlet.
Year 2005 - 100,000,000 US dollars;
Year 2006 - 200,000,000 US dollars;
Year 2007 - 300,000,000 US dollars.
The project has a "scenario of other side". The additional strategy lies in that during the first year of activity, the most simple in manufacture and most profitable type of vehicle made on the basis of automobile will appear. For example, automobile-yacht, and this attaching implement in a package with the automobile for sale, the expended financial investment will be reimbursed within 1.5-1.8 years.
It is also possible to sell the license, to negotiate on the patent, to sell the project for 3-4 million US dollars, which exceeds the expenditures for this period of time.
The authors have developed three types of vehicles on the basis of commercial automobile "Niva" and "RAF" (Russia), which successfully have passed the testing. The results of the work were published in the scientific and technical literatures.
